NJDEP July Exams Canceled

**ALERT (issued April 22, 2020)**

(1) EXAMINATIONS:
In response to the continuing COVID 19 emergency, the July 28 and 29, 2020 Water and Wastewater Operator Licensing examination dates are CANCELLED. Uncertainty regarding the lifting of social distancing and other restrictions, and the continued closure of the exam location make it difficult to definitively schedule any in-person exams at this time. However, the Department is working with the exam vendor to determine the feasibility of administering the examinations remotely through a new online modality. At a minimum, eligible applicants would need access to a secure room, a strong internet signal, and a computer with video and audio capabilities to complete an online exam. The Department is committed to pursuing this possible new avenue for online exams and will support the vendor with review and testing of the online process. If the Department approves the remote online testing format, individuals whose applications have already been approved for the March 31 and April 1, 2020 exams that were cancelled will be contacted directly via email – please do NOT call the office with questions. Subsequently, an announcement will be provided on this website announcing the new online testing process for all applicants. PLEASE BE ADVISED that if the Department determines that online exams are not feasible, in-person exams will be scheduled when the COVID 19 emergency and related restrictions are lifted.

New exam applications are being accepted via regular mail, however, due to social distancing and other restrictions, Department processing and Board of Examiner approval times may be delayed. In addition, future in-person exam dates are currently uncertain so any approvals will be pending availability of exams.

March 31 and April 1, 2020 application rejection appeals will be reviewed by the Board of Examiners and decisions should be issued by the end of May 2020. Again, any approvals will be pending availability of exams.
